Free Freedom

Isn’t this a tad redundant? Aren’t all public lands sites where one can express oneself freely?

I hadn’t seen this kind of sign before. It’s situated at Newfound Gap, the peak of the drive through Smoky Mountain National Park. No one felt especially moved to express themselves at the time, perhaps because it is placed right next to the bear-proof but not bee-proof trashcans. I wonder what circumstances arose that required such a sign in the first place.

Well maybe some people did come to express their views but unfortunately met up with some of the bears that wanted to, but could not get into the trash cans and so had to find a meal elsewhere. Like a meal standing by the sign perhaps! O_O

The right of bears (real ones!) to express themselves always takes priority over humans!

What a curious sign...

I've seen signs like this in England, but never here. Weird.

Perhaps a demonstration could be organized at the site protesting the existence of the site.

Hmmm...like you, I'd like to know the backstory.

Oh, gosh, that's just scary. I hope this won't be a growing trend. "You have the freedom to express yourself, but only in a small square in Rural Montana!"

ewww....

Umm, the circumstances would be the current attempts by the administration to curtail the First Amendment as much as possible. One only needs to look at the dust up regarding taking away the right to protest on the National Mall..
